Stuff I like: Laura Owens

Laura Owens is an American painter who emerged in the late 1990s. She is best known for her mixed media paintings of animals and landscapes that incorporate a variety of art historical references and painterly techniques. She lives and works in Los Angeles.

I came across her work in the Phaidon book Vitamin P: Perspectives in Paintings back in 2005 and have followed her career ever since. I love her style and how it has evolved over the years and I can't wait to see what great pieces she will create in the future.

Well, thank the sweet Lord - March is finally here! January and February are absolutely my 2 least favorite months of the year and I am always soooooo happy when we cross over into the threshold of March!

Springtime is looking pretty good so far. Jonny and I have a couple trips brewing for April and May which I am looking forward to and I am also participating in the East Buntyn Art Walk on April 7th. Which means I am going to have to spend the next 4 weeks painting my life away to get ready! That's ok - I thrive on deadlines! Stay Tuned!
