The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Modern Vintage

Remember these? The kitchen towels that had the calendar year printed on them? My Grandma used to have these every year and I always thought they were pretty cool (I was 9, okay?  I also thought Mazda Miatas were cool). I kept coming across them the other day while I was searching through Etsy, and I thought "Why doesn't anybody do these anymore...?"

Divine inspiration hits, and I thought "Well, I'll just do them!" I did a quick search for a kitchen towel printer and found a nice, family run operation in upstate New York who was available and affordable and I was off! I had a design already in mind so I went straight to work and by the end of the day I was ready to print! It all came together so quickly that I feel like this design was meant to be or something (super cheese - I know). 

Towels are printed on 100% linen and are 18x29". They make great gifts for just about anyone in your life: Grandmas, Mother-in-Laws, Teachers, Secret Santas - you name it! Available in my Etsy Shop - click here for more info or to order!

There's no place like home

I've been working on these designs all week and I am super proud to introduce my custom house portraits! These are the perfect way to immortalize your home so you never forget where your heart is. Also great for those lake and beach houses! All I need is a photo of your house and you can have your very own custom illustration! Makes a great wedding or holiday gift, or Mother's Day gift, or... really any occasion!

This is the photo I was sent. The photo doesn't have to be the best in the world - this one was taken with a camera phone.

I just grabbed this photo off a realtor website because I liked it. Ideally, the photo should be more straight on, but this did in a pinch. 

 I had fun with all of the color!

What's it going to bee?

I'm back! After a much too long blogging hiatus I am back and ready to roll with lots of new and exciting posts to come - so be sure to stay tuned!


Let's start with Julie and Ben's gender reveal shower.


Julie and Ben are having a baby (clearly) and one of their very good friends wanted to throw them a Gender Reveal Party. This concept is rather new to me, so I was excited to both help with the invitations and signage and to also attend as a guest.

Invitation

The lovely hostess (Cindy) decided on a bumble bee theme (cute!), and the nursery colors are yellow and gray (love!), so I designed the invite accordingly with a honeycomb design and a softer color palette. This design now available on my Etsy Shop - click here for more info. 

Decor

With yellow gumballs, lemons, yellow and gray striped wax straws and all manner of yellow flowers, Cindy did a simple yet striking job with the decor. Every last detail was present and accounted for: a locally produced honeycomb on the cheese tray, a Bee Sting speciality cocktail and the guest favors were a glass honey bear filled with local honey! It was fantastic!

Cindy also did a Wish Tree, where guests fill in their wishes for Baby Hollis and pin them to the tree. It made for a striking finished piece and Julie and Ben will the cards in their scrapbook to have forever!

The Big Reveal

Cindy had a large box taped shut with balloons inside (Julie and Ben didn't even know at this point!). Once they lifted the top the balloons came popped upward and the big new was revealed! Yup, it's a girl!

This party was so much fun to go to for so many reasons! The food and decor were fantastic and it was so much fun being around friends and family all waiting in anticipation for the exciting news. And the fact that the couple didn't even know (Cindy kept it a secret!) was the best part - we all got to find out together!) Congratulation to Julie and Ben on their news! Can't wait to meet her!

Seaside or Bust!

Ahhh, the beach - One of my favorite places in the world. And, since I don't have a tropical vacation planned anytime soon, I think I'll live vicariously through my clients. This is an invitation I designed for a client getting married in Mexico (yeah, I'm super J too). Enjoy!

Sweet & Savory

Don't you just love awesome couples who are truly in love and have a blast with each other? If your answer is yes, then let me introduce you to Kim and Derek - a super fun couple, both extreme foodies and 2 of my dear friends. 

They are both chef instructors at L'École Culinaire, a culinary institution here in Memphis. Kim specializes on the savory side of things while Derek focuses on the sweet (opposites attract, right?). They met at work a couple of years ago and have been cookin' it up ever since! 

Once Derek popped the question (with his Grandmother's incredible vintage engagement ring!) they got right to the planning and asked me to design their save the dates!

The ceremony is going to be held at Memphis Water Works, an impressive garden hardscapes space in the heart of the city with the ambience of a 100-year-old restored lumber shed (which makes it perfect for weddings!) And the reception is going to be at a Memphis Redbirds baseball game (on a fireworks night! I can't wait!) 

To reflect the awesomely fun and exciting elements of their wedding - I decided to focus on the fireworks for the design. I thought it would be a great way to introduce her colors (aubergine and bright blue) and set the tone for a relaxed yet energetic event!

Also, they had their engagement photos taken by (the amazing) Molly Kennedy of Good Golly Photography! This first round was taken in the kitchens of L'École (where they fell in love!)
