The sky is falling!

Memphis can now join the ranks of Los Angeles and Austin thanks to the styling efforts of Cyndii Jo Hartley, owner and self proclaimed Mistress of Style of The Henny Penny Mobile Boutique, Memphis' first fashion truck! 

Just as a food truck would roam the city peddling savory sandwiches or confectionary creations, Cyndii Jo does it armed with stylish dresses and modern accessories - all within a dangerously affordable price range. She tweets and Facebooks her locals (such as South Main or Collierville Square) and the clients come to her - genius! 

She came to me in need of a logo design and I enthusiastically accepted. She described her look for the truck as Western Glamour - think a 70's Dolly Parton or Gram Parsons juxtaposed with a black tie ball. We decided on black and white as the main colors (everything goes with black and white!) and we highlighted with gold accents (who does't love gold?!) and the end result was...

"Western" think and for good luck!) Note: a horseshoe should ALWAYS be facing up for good luck - some people don't know that..._

People we love: Pomp & Posie

Pomp & Posie is the newest (and most adorable) gift shop in Memphis! Owned and operated by Lori Johnson, this charming and unique shop carries all you will need for gifts: handbags, stationery, original  paintings, photo frames, designer candles,  jewelry and more!

I met Lori last year at Merry Marketplace and she contracted me to design her logo. She knew she wanted to use coral and grey for her main color scheme and she wanted the design to be playful yet simple. I sent her several options and after a few small revisions we landed on the below design. 

Well, her shop is now open and it's fabulous! I swung by the other day to check it out and take some pictures - check them out!

People we love: Allegiant Financial Planning

A few months ago my good friend, Lauren Estes, asked if I could help her out; she was in the beginning stages of starting her business and needed some help with the logo design. Of course! I love working with friends!

After I showed her several options (I was on a roll that day...)

Lauren decided on the below option as the final design.

Clean, simple, easy to read, a nice balance of color - everything you need in a classic logo design. 

And then several weeks ago she invited me up to see her new office. I was so super impressed with her interior design skills that I decided to share her lovely space with you.

Lauren's dad, Don Estes, is quite the painter and all around handy guy. He (graciously) supplied most of the artwork in Lauren's office (lucky!) His other works can be viewed at the David Lusk Gallery here in town, or check them out here. 

The rest of Lauren's decor was found mostly online. The patterned occasional chair is from Target, the sofa is from Overstock.com, and the table is another Don Estes original (Lauren had seen a table similar that she liked and her dad said "Oh, I can make that" - like I said - lucky!) 

 Aside from having a flair for decorating, Lauren is also quite the savvy financial planner.

Building Relationships: Jessica Strickland

A couple of years ago I had a client contact me about designing a custom Twins Baby Shower Invitation. She was Jessica Strickland, a wedding photographer who operates out of central Indiana. Being a creative type, she had some very specific ideas  about the design and prefaced her order by saying she was extremely picky and for me not to get offended if she had too many revisions or criticisms. I tool a deep breath, said "okey dokey" and set to work. 

Thankfully, I knocked it out of the park and she was extremely pleased with her design options! Whew! We finalized the design and the rest of the order went smoothly. 

A couple of months later, she contacted me about designing a gift certificate for her photography business and some new business cards. She wanted to use her existing logo and current color selections (black and yellow), but change up the design some. I was super thrilled that she came back for more (love repeat clients!!!), so I happily obliged her request. 

A couple months after that, she contacted me about a house portrait for one of her friends! 

By this time we are pretty friendly with each other and she recommends that her sister contact me about some more design projects - but more on that later!

And finally, earlier this year, she contacts me in regards to her logo. She is ready for a totally new logo design! She sends me her ideas and, once again, I set to work. I won't bore you with all of the drafts and revisions we went through - I'll just cut to the good stuff: her new logo!

We hired Grey Snail Press for the calligraphy (J is super awesome and easy to work with!)

Business cards. I love how the logo pops against the white background and - BAM! - you turn it over for even more wow!

We also printed some promotional pieces to showcase her new logo as well as her photography work. They are printed on a 130# glossy paper and will fit in a n0. 10 envelope! BTW, have I mentioned how incredibly talented Jessica is? Her work is absolutely amazing and you should definitely go check out her website. 

Anyway, I am super proud of this overall design and I am so thankful that Jessica and I have such a great working relationship! It's always so wonderful when you can work with a creative person and be equally inspired by them. The finished product is always amazing!

Don't Panic, It's Organic!

I have been designing a lot of new product for my buddies at Little Rock Urban Farming (or LRUF) and I am super excited to introduce my latest design: the Don't Panic, It's Organic! T-shirts. 

They have been screenprinted by a local company in Little Rock on American Apparel shirts (so they are super soft and have a nice fit) and are available in a wide rage of sizes and colors!

We also printed more of the ShadyNasty (the resident rooster at LRUF) designs for both men and women!

I have also designed a large banner for the LRUF crew to display at Farmer's Markets

and promotional stickers and new business cards!

the business cards is actually a rubber stamp hand-printed on a recycled piece of kraft stock, so they are nice and thick and eco friendly! A simple, creative way to  have your business card stand out from the crowd!

I absolutely love working for Chris and the guys at LRUF! They are all so young and imaginative and they let my creative spirit run wild! And it's for an organization I truly believe in, which just makes it easy and fun!

Celebration Central

I recently did some branding/marketing work for Celebration Central, a party and event specialist based out of Zionsville, Indiana. The business is run by Jenny Burger who has vast experience in event and wedding planning due to her many years running The Palomino Ballroom, a unique, mulit-purpose venue outside of Indianapolis. Jenny's newest venture, Celebration Central offers truly unique event and party items such as a dunk tank, mini motorized kids train, human gyroscope, a horse and carriage, cotton candy/nacho/popcorn machines, tables, chairs and that list goes on and on!

To announce the launch of her newest business, Jenny hosted a promotional event which featured bouncy stations, face painting, a sweets table, train rides, and so much more! The event also benefitted a dear friend of theirs,  Ruby Kahoun and the Just Win Ruby Foundation (fight like a girl!)
